"A White Heron" Performed at Norway Memorial Library
Tuesday, December 18, 2007
On Friday evening, December 7, over 80 people gathered for a Reader's Theatre performance of Sarah Orne Jewett's much loved short story, "A White Heron." The story was adapted for reader's theatre by Sally Jones who also directed the cast of exceptional actors in a lovely telling of this classic short story.
The performance was enhanced with photographs, music and sound effects that succeeded in setting the scene of rural coastal Maine in the late 1800's.
Following the performance, some audience members joined in a facilitated discussion of the story led by Jeanette Baldridge. This event was a program in the library's ongoing Celebration of the Short Story and was also the entertainment portion of the library's annual Holiday Open House.
