Fogler Library, University of Maine

As Maine's Science, Technology and Business Research Library, the Raymond H. Fogler Library at the University of Maine is committed to meeting the information needs of Maine's researchers and businesses as they strive to compete in the global marketplace.

In order to better meet those needs, we are pleased to introduce the SciTechBus Web Portal -- combining access to subscription databases with selected internet resources, compiled and reviewed by library subject specialists.

Background

During the 1999 legislative session, the Maine Legislature passed Me. Public Law 401, Pt. UU, which designates the Fogler Library as Maine's Science, Technology and Business Library. The funding provided through this designation has allowed us to provide statewide access to a number of valuable research databases, which primarily index research journals, industry and business magazines, and newspapers.

Browse current issues of leading business magazines and professional journals -- from the convenience of your desktop.

Search the contents of thousands of journals and newspapers covering topics such as management, accounting, investment, finance, marketing and international trade.

Web Index

While the Web has brought access to unprecedented amounts of information, it has also brought about information overload. Instead of wading through thousands of search engine results to find the information you need, take a look at our Web Index -- Internet sites reviewed and organized by library subject specialists. Links include:

• Professional societies, federal and state government agencies, foundations and educational organizations.
• Company and product directories, compilations of technical data and physical property sites.
• Statistics laws, regulations and standards.
• Intellectual property resources and databases.

Just point your web browser to: http://www.library.umaine.edu/scitechbus . Due to licensing agreements, database access is limited to Maine residents. For detailed information about accessing the state funded subscription databases, please refer to the FAQ page of the SciTechBus Web Portal.
