Special things are happening in Maine libraries.
- Rockland Public Library - Portrait of a Growing Library - April 30, 2008
- Open seven days a week, the Rockland Public Library strives to be a full-service library for its community. The collection of about 50,000 items, housed in a gem of a building and located in a scenic coastal community, attracts customers from all over the country. Over 170,000 people used the library’s services in 2007.
- Wells Reserve Coastal Resource Library - March 30, 2008
- The Coastal Resource Library at Wells Reserve holds a specialized collection of materials focused on the ecology and natural history of the Gulf of Maine. It is located at historic Laudholm Farm in coastal York County, with fields, forests, marshes, and a sand beach just outside the library door.
- The Southwest Harbor Public Library – Open Doors, Open Minds - February 29, 2008
- March is Women’s History Month, and the Women’s History Project (WHP) of the Southwest Harbor Public Library will continue the tradition of presenting exhibits and programs that especially highlight the accomplishments of women. This year’s theme is “Women & The Sea”. The month-long series of events will include an art exhibition, panel discussions, a film viewing, and an ongoing oral history project.
- Gardiner Public Library - February 01, 2008
- Gardiner Public Library provides library services for 6 towns which makes for a busy day but it is more so with renovations underway.
- Maine Regional Library System Celebrates its 35th Anniversary - December 31, 2007
- The Maine Regional Library System has over 1,000 library members. Hospital libraries, school libraries, college libraries, special libraries and public libraries from Kittery to Calais are included in the membership. From tiny island libraries to large urban libraries, all can join the regional system.
- Farmington Public Library - November 29, 2007
- Stenciled ceilings, carved oak, glass floors, book lined walls and a domed rotunda. The Farmington Public Library is as beautiful as a museum,
but it’s friendly staff and modern lobby make it a wonderful hometown library.
- Waterville Senior High School Media Center - November 06, 2007
- “This is better than anything on the Sci-Fi channel” was a student response to Waterville Senior High School’s “Science Through Science Fiction” movie night.
- Fryeburg Public Library - August 29, 2007
- The Fryeburg Public Library is home to a special collection of the works of Hopalong Cassidy author, Clarence Mulford.
- Mark & Emily Turner Memorial Library - the Star of the Star City - July 29, 2007
- Today, the Mark & Emily Turner Memorial Library has around 4,200 active library card holders and is a vibrant, crucial economic and development force within the community.
- The Bangor Public Library — a Gem to all those in Eastern and Northern Maine - July 09, 2007
- Downeast Magazine in a North by East Column in February 2007 did a short article on the value of Bangor Public Library’s reference staff entitled, "Even Google can’t match a good Maine librarian."
- McLaughlin Foundation Library - June 05, 2007
- The McLaughlin Garden, located in South Paris, is best known for its spring lilac festival.
